Nigerians deserve what they are going through – Apostle Suleman

The Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has attributed the current economic challenges in Nigeria to poor decisions made during the 2023 elections.

Speaking at the "Recovery Conference 2025," held in Bauchi State on Tuesday and Wednesday, Suleman highlighted the consequences of the electorate’s choices, as reported by Daily Post on Thursday.

Ahead of the conference, Suleman paid a courtesy visit to Governor Bala Mohammed at the Bauchi Government House. During the visit, he praised Mohammed's leadership and hospitality, describing him as “a man of honor,” and assured him of his prayers for the state’s continued progress. He was accompanied by senior pastors, including Dr. Kingsley Aigbe.

While addressing journalists, Suleman expressed his disappointment with the state of the nation, placing part of the blame on voters. “What Nigerians are going through is a result of their choices. Before the elections, we raised alarms, we warned. The individual (President Bola Tinubu) who emerged had no manifesto—only a sense of entitlement with his ‘it’s my turn’ slogan,” he remarked.

He criticized the current administration for its handling of the oil sector and policy decisions. “The oil sector has been looted. It may take 10 to 15 years for the country to recover from this damage. All we can do now is pray,” Suleman said.

Suleman urged Nigerians to learn from the current situation and reflect on their voting decisions ahead of the 2027 elections, adding, “Perhaps by then, after enduring this hardship, better choices will be made.”

Governor Mohammed echoed Suleman’s concerns, criticizing the policies of the Federal Government. He warned that the lack of clear vision in these policies could harm the nation significantly.

“Tinubu’s policies lack direction and are leading us towards destruction. My stance on tax reforms, for example, isn’t against reforms themselves but against policies that fail to deliver meaningful national impact. I have no personal issues with the president, but I must speak the truth,” Mohammed stated.

The governor affirmed his commitment to holding the Federal Government accountable, asserting, “Nigerians deserve better, and I will not hesitate to point out these shortcomings.”
