Suspended RCCG Pastor Idowu Iluyomade Launches New Ministry in Lagos
Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, the former senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, has officially launched a new ministry in Lagos called The Family Fellowship.
A viral video circulating on social media on Monday morning captured Iluyomade celebrating with members during the inaugural service, which took place on Sunday at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. The gathering was marked by dancing, singing, and jubilation.
Announcing the New Fellowship
Iluyomade took to Instagram to invite the public to join the new fellowship, writing:
“The Family Fellowship invites you specially. Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special time in the Lord’s presence. Promises to be a great experience.”
Background and RCCG Suspension
Iluyomade’s departure from RCCG followed his suspension in 2024, after his wife, Pastor Siju, hosted an extravagant 60th birthday celebration just weeks after the tragic passing of Herbert Wigwe—a notable church member and former CEO of Access Bank—along with his wife and son.
The lavish celebration sparked public outrage, as many viewed it as insensitive, given that Wigwe had been a major supporter of the church before his untimely death in a helicopter crash in the United States.
In response to the controversy, the RCCG Governing Council launched an investigation, leading to Iluyomade and his wife’s suspension for three months. They were reassigned to worship at the church’s headquarters in Ebute Metta.
Adding to the fallout, the Wigwe family reportedly disinvited the Iluyomades from the funeral proceedings.
A New Beginning
Despite the challenges, Pastor Iluyomade has now embarked on a new spiritual journey, establishing The Family Fellowship as a platform to continue his ministry and connect with his followers.
