NDLEA Raises Alarm Over Rising Abuse of Dangerous Substances Among Youths
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has sounded a warning over the increasing abuse of dangerous substances by young people, following recent drug seizures in Lagos and Kano. Many of these illicit substances are disguised under unsettling street names, raising serious concerns about youth drug use trends.
Femi Babafemi, the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, highlighted the issue on Sunday through a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), showcasing the confiscated contraband.
Among the seized items were New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), along with other hazardous drugs known by alarming street names such as “Suck & Die,” “Rubber Solution,” “Dead Man,” and “Gelato.”
Babafemi urged parents, guardians, and community leaders to stay alert and proactive in recognizing and addressing these dangerous trends within their communities.
“Narco-trend update: Parents, shine your eyes 👀! Latest seizures by @ndlea_nigeria officers in Lagos and Kano reveal scary names of some substances, including NPS, we should all watch out for in our homes and communities: Suck & Die, Rubber Solution, Dead Man, Gelato.”
The NDLEA continues to intensify efforts to combat drug abuse and urges the public to support its mission by reporting suspicious activities and educating young people on the dangers of substance abuse.
