The Sokoto State Government has called on residents to remain alert as military operations targeting bandit terrorists escalate in the eastern part of the state and surrounding regions.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Ahmed Aliyu, retired Colonel Ahmed Usman, the government outlined the progress made in the ongoing joint military efforts. These operations have reportedly left the bandits in disarray, dismantling several terrorist hideouts, eliminating dozens of criminals, and rescuing hundreds of kidnapped victims.
Residents were urged to exercise caution and report any suspicious movements in their communities.
“As security forces intensify pressure, some bandits are fleeing with injured members, seeking refuge in other areas. We are urging citizens to remain vigilant, as these criminals may attempt to blend into villages or seek medical treatment at local clinics while in disguise,” the statement warned.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with security agencies to restore peace and stability. It also encouraged the public to support these efforts by promptly reporting any unusual activities to authorities.
“This initiative aligns with Governor Aliyu’s nine-point agenda aimed at ensuring a safer and more economically viable Sokoto State. The government remains resolute in its partnership with security forces to safeguard lives and maintain peace,” the statement concluded.
