Kunle Afod Reflects on 38 Years in Nollywood, Shares Key Life Lessons
Veteran actor and director Kunle Afod, who has spent 38 years in the Nigerian entertainment industry, recently shared a profound lesson he has learned over the years.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Afod emphasized that in life, “there are no permanent friends or enemies.”
Afod on the Reality of Friendships and Rivalries
The 51-year-old actor explained that relationships can shift unexpectedly, and individuals should not see others as lifelong friends or foes.
“Someone you consider a friend today might betray you, while a perceived enemy could end up being the key to your success,” Afod stated.
He further reflected on his decades in Nollywood, saying:
“I started acting in 1986, and one thing I have learned is that there are no permanent friends or enemies anywhere. It’s best to remain open-minded. The person you trust could betray you, while someone you see as an adversary might be your greatest help.”
Upcoming Projects and Career Plans
Afod also announced his plans to work on a big-screen project in 2025 and release new episodes of his popular Proverbs Challenge series, which aligns with his passion for creating competitive content.
“This year, I’m focusing on the big screen. I’m also preparing to launch new episodes of the Proverbs Challenge series. I enjoy creating content that challenges the audience,” he said.
Advice for Young Actors and Directors
Offering guidance to up-and-coming talents, Afod urged them to prioritize continuous learning and research to enhance their craft.
“Directors, in particular, should be committed to research, improving their work, and upgrading their knowledge regularly,” he advised.
As Afod looks ahead to new ventures, his reflections on resilience and adaptability serve as valuable lessons for aspiring actors and industry professionals.
