APC Chieftain Eze Slams Minister Wike Over Comments on Atiku
A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following recent remarks made by Wike’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka. Olayinka had suggested that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s presidential ambitions were the main cause of internal issues within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Eze dismissed Wike’s statements as unfounded, irrational, and contrary to established facts. In a statement on Monday, he described the criticism of Atiku as “fallacious” and a manifestation of “prideful spite.”
“Wike’s attack on Atiku is both irrational and baseless, driven by a deep-seated animosity and what I term Atikuphobia,” Eze said.
As a member of the APC Legacy Projects Media Team, Eze expressed that Wike’s remarks were unsurprising, noting that the former Rivers State Governor appeared to be aligning with President Bola Tinubu to maintain favor.
Eze further added that many Nigerians view Wike as a self-serving leader with autocratic tendencies, who wants to control every decision. He also criticized Wike’s actions towards Siminalaye Fubara, the elected Governor of Rivers State, suggesting that if Wike were truly a progressive democrat, he would not be undermining Fubara’s leadership.
“If I were Fubara, Wike would have to think twice before stepping into Rivers State,” Eze remarked.
He went on to accuse Wike of being the root cause of the ongoing crisis in the PDP, asserting that Wike’s personal ambitions had damaged the party. Eze reminded that Wike, a longtime member of the PDP, owes much of his political career to the platform the party provided him, and without it, he would not have gained the prominence he has today.
Eze concluded by urging Wike to abandon his political tactics targeting Atiku, warning that they would lead him to political irrelevance.
