16 corps members face sanctions as 1,268 complete service in Gombe


 Gombe NYSC Coordinator Commends 1,268 Corps Members for Completing Service Year


The Gombe State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Chinwe Nwachukwu, has commended 1,268 Batch A, Stream I corps members for successfully completing their one-year national service in the state.


However, she also disclosed that 16 corps members would face disciplinary actions, while 21 others are set for remobilization due to various infractions.


Nwachukwu made this known during her farewell address at the NYSC zonal office, during a low-key passing-out ceremony in Gombe.


“A total of 1,268 Batch A, Stream I corps members are passing out today. However, 16 members have disciplinary cases, while 21 are being remobilized for different offences,” she stated.


Acknowledging Service and Sacrifice


Expressing pride in their achievements, the NYSC Coordinator applauded the outgoing corps members for their dedication, resilience, and contributions to the socio-economic development of their host communities.


“My dear compatriots of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I service year, I heartily commend you for your selfless service to Nigeria and humanity. Your dedication to nation-building and community development will always be remembered. May all your sacrifices be richly rewarded as you step into the next phase of your lives.”


Nwachukwu highlighted their positive impact in various sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and community development service (CDS) projects.


Cultural Exchange and National Unity


She also emphasized the importance of the cultural exposure corps members gained during their service year, urging them to cherish the experiences and friendships formed in Gombe State.


“You have learned valuable lessons about the culture, customs, and traditions of the people of Gombe State. I hope this experience fosters the national integration and unity that Nigeria strives for.”


Encouraging Entrepreneurship and Lifelong Learning


As the corps members transition to the next phase of their lives, the NYSC official advised them to apply the skills, training, and knowledge acquired during the service year.


“I encourage you to take advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme. Whether you choose to further your education, pursue a career, or start a business, I am confident that you will make a meaningful impact.”


She also urged them to maintain the relationships and networks they built during their service year, emphasizing their role in bridging cultural gaps and fostering national unity.


“The friendships and collaborations you have formed will help break cultural barriers, enhance understanding, and contribute to growth and development. You are now ambassadors of the NYSC and should uphold the values of unity, peace, and progress wherever you go.”


Looking Ahead


With the completion of their service year, the corps members are expected to apply their experiences to contribute positively to their communities and the nation at large. Meanwhile, the NYSC continues to uphold discipline among its members, ensuring that its core values of patriotism, integrity, and national development are maintained.
