1. President Tinubu Meets Ogoni Leaders

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with leaders of the Ogoni community at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The delegation was led by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and King Festus Babari Bagia Gberesaako XIII, the Gberemene of Gokana Kingdom.

2. Bandits Attack Yobe Market, Kill Seven

Suspected bandits attacked the Ngalda cattle and main market in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State, killing at least seven traders and injuring 11 others. The assailants, who stormed the market around 6 pm, fired sporadically and looted shops and cattle stalls.

3. CBN Governor Vows to Curb Naira Sales

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, has pledged to tackle the illegal buying and selling of Naira notes. He made this commitment during a keynote address at the inaugural Stakeholders’ Conference of the Committee of Heads of Banks Operations in Lagos.

4. Anthrax Outbreak Confirmed in Zamfara

The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has confirmed an outbreak of anthrax in Zamfara State. The ministry’s spokesperson, Ben Bem Goong, issued a statement warning the public about the health risks associated with the disease.

5. Boko Haram Strikes Borno Village

Armed terrorists suspected to be Boko Haram members attacked Kawuri village in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State. They destroyed three patrol vehicles belonging to the Civilian Joint Task Force and three armored military tanks. Many residents fled into the bush to escape the violence.

6. NNPC Adjusts Petrol Prices Upward

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has raised the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) from N965 to N990 per litre in the Federal Capital Territory. In Lagos, prices increased from N925 to N960 per litre, despite a slight decline in global crude oil prices.

7. Five Arrested Over Alleged Cult-Related Murder in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested five suspected cultists accused of beating a 34-year-old man, Rowland Horsfall, to death. The suspects allegedly attacked Horsfall after accusing him of making a fake bank transfer for drugs in the Trans-Amadi area of Port Harcourt.

8. Portugal to Expand LNG Imports from Nigeria

Portugal has announced plans to increase its purchase of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) from Nigeria and the United States. This decision follows the country’s efforts to reduce reliance on Russian energy supplies due to international sanctions.

9. Court Denies Bail to Ex-El-Rufai Aide

A Kaduna State High Court has again denied bail to Bashir Sa’idu, former Chief of Staff to ex-Governor Nasir El-Rufai. Sa’idu is facing a 10-count charge related to alleged money laundering, embezzlement, and theft. The court ordered that he remain in custody.

10. Over 100 Terrorist Financiers Convicted in Two Years

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu disclosed that more than 100 individuals involved in funding terrorism have been prosecuted and convicted over the past two years. He made this announcement during the 2025 National Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Financing of Terrorism, and Proliferation Summit in Abuja.
