Trump Claims Divine Intervention Saved Him from Assassin’s Bullet to Fulfill His Mission
During his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, Donald Trump declared that God had saved his life after an assassination attempt, with the purpose of enabling him to “make America great again.”
Trump recounted the harrowing experience, saying, “Just a few months ago, in a beautiful Pennsylvania field, an assassin’s bullet tore through my ear. But in that moment, I felt that my life was spared for a greater purpose.”
“I believe now more than ever that God saved me to make America great again, and that’s why I’m here today,” he added during his inaugural speech.
The former president was targeted by an assailant on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, when Thomas Matthew Crooks positioned himself with an assault rifle and fired multiple shots at Trump during a rally. One of the bullets grazed Trump’s right ear, narrowly missing him.
