FG congratulates Trump on inauguration as 47th President


 Nigeria Congratulates Donald Trump on His Inauguration as U.S. President


The Federal Government of Nigeria has extended its congratulations to Donald Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States.


This was conveyed in a statement released on Tuesday by Kimiebi Ebienfa, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


Reaffirming Strong Bilateral Ties


The Nigerian government emphasized the long-standing diplomatic relations between both nations, highlighting their collaboration in areas such as:

Good governance

Sustainable development

Counterterrorism efforts

Combating violent extremism


The statement reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with the U.S. under President Trump’s administration, with the aim of promoting shared interests and enhancing the well-being of citizens from both countries.


“Nigeria and the United States have maintained a strong and historic partnership across multiple areas of mutual interest, particularly in promoting good governance, sustainable development, and the fight against terrorism and violent extremism. We look forward to deepening this cooperation under President Trump’s leadership,” the statement read.


Commitment to Global Cooperation


Nigeria also expressed optimism about continuing collaboration with the U.S. in addressing global challenges and fostering economic growth.


Trump was officially sworn in as the 47th U.S. President on Monday during an inauguration ceremony inside the Capitol Rotunda, which was moved indoors due to adverse weather conditions.


According to CNN, the oath of office was administered by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, with Trump pledging to preserve, protect, and defend the U.S. Constitution.
