Martinelli Reacts to Arsenal’s Draw Against Aston Villa
Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has shared his thoughts on his team’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League.
Despite initially taking control of the match at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, Arsenal surrendered a two-goal lead. Martinelli and Kai Havertz put the Gunners ahead, but Aston Villa responded with goals from Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins.
A dramatic moment unfolded late in the game when Havertz appeared to score a winner, turning in a shot from Mikel Merino. However, after a VAR review, the goal was disallowed as Havertz was deemed to have used his arm in the build-up.
Reflecting on the frustrating result, Martinelli admitted the outcome was disappointing but emphasized the challenges of playing in the Premier League.
“It’s a disappointing day. We wanted to win, but we have to keep going,” he said in his post-match interview. “That’s football, that’s the Premier League—the toughest league in the world.”
He added, “We need to analyze the game, identify our mistakes, and work on improving for the upcoming matches. We believe in our abilities and trust in our potential as a team.”
