NGF condoles Niger gov, fuel tanker explosion victims


 The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has extended its condolences to the victims of the tragic tanker explosion that occurred on Saturday along the Dikko-Maje Road in Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State.


In a statement issued on Saturday by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor and NGF Chairman, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the forum expressed its sympathies to Niger State Governor Umar Bago and the families affected by the disaster.


The statement also included prayers for the souls of those who lost their lives in the explosion.


“The Forum is deeply saddened by the petrol tanker explosion in Niger State, which has resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries.


“Our heartfelt condolences go out to His Excellency, Governor Umar Bago, the bereaved families, and all those affected by this tragic incident.


“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones, and we wish the injured a speedy recovery,” the statement read.


NGF Calls for Caution


Emphasizing the importance of safety, the forum urged Nigerians to exercise extreme caution, particularly in hazardous situations like fuel spills.


“We once again appeal to our fellow citizens to prioritize safety and exercise utmost caution in life-threatening situations such as a petrol spill. The Forum prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased,” the statement concluded.


Rescue Efforts Underway


Reports indicate that no fewer than 50 people lost their lives in the explosion, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries while attempting to collect fuel from the overturned tanker.


In response to the incident, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed an emergency rescue team to the scene to assist those affected.
