EPL: Villa hold Arsenal, Bournemouth stun Newcastle 4-1 with Kluivert hat-trick

Martinelli and Havertz Strike as Arsenal Held by Aston Villa

Gabriel Martinelli handed Arsenal a well-earned first-half lead after Emiliano Martinez failed to prevent his shot from crossing the line.

A similar scenario played out for the Gunners’ second goal, as Martinez managed to get a hand on Kai Havertz’s effort but was unable to keep it out.

Despite Arsenal appearing to be in control, Aston Villa mounted a comeback when Youri Tielemans headed in to reduce the deficit. The Belgian midfielder nearly equalized moments later, striking the post with a powerful attempt.

Villa eventually found the equalizer 22 minutes from time, as Ollie Watkins expertly directed Matty Cash’s cross off the underside of the crossbar.

Arsenal thought they had secured a late winner, but Mikel Merino’s deflected shot off Havertz’s hand was ruled out after a VAR review.

Kluivert’s Hat-Trick Inspires Bournemouth to Stun Newcastle

Bournemouth ended Newcastle’s winning streak in emphatic fashion, with Justin Kluivert’s hat-trick leading them to a dominant 4-1 victory and propelling the Cherries to sixth place.

The Magpies were aiming for a club-record 10th consecutive win across all competitions but were outclassed by a Bournemouth side now unbeaten in 11 matches.

Kluivert, son of former Newcastle forward Patrick Kluivert, had previously netted a hat-trick of penalties against Wolves this season. However, this time, all three of his goals came from open play in a stunning performance at St. James’ Park.

Milos Kerkez added a fourth goal in stoppage time, sealing an impressive win for Andoni Iraola’s team, who now sit just one point behind fourth-placed Newcastle.

Bournemouth have never qualified for European competition before, but Kluivert is optimistic about their chances.

“Why not dream big? Let’s see where we can end up,” said the Dutch international.

Leicester’s Struggles Continue, Palace Overcome West Ham

Elsewhere, Leicester City suffered their seventh consecutive Premier League defeat as Fulham secured a 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium. Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side are now dangerously close to relegation.

Emile Smith Rowe and Adama Traore found the net for Fulham, lifting them to ninth in the table.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace climbed to 12th place after claiming their third win in four matches with a 2-0 victory over 10-man West Ham.

Jean-Philippe Mateta bagged a second-half brace for the Eagles, while West Ham’s task was made even tougher when Konstantinos Mavropanos was sent off. Mateta sealed the win with a late penalty.
