Messi scores for Miami in pre-season victory

Messi Scores as Inter Miami Edge Club América in Pre-Season Thriller

Lionel Messi found the net on Saturday as Inter Miami kicked off their pre-season campaign with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Mexico’s Club América in Las Vegas.

The Argentine star headed in a cross from Luis Suárez in the 34th minute, leveling the score for Inter Miami after Henry Martín had put América ahead moments earlier.

Second-Half Drama

Israel Reyes restored América’s lead in the 52nd minute, making it 2-1 at Allegiant Stadium.

Shortly after, new Inter Miami head coach, Javier Mascherano, made a series of substitutions, including taking Messi off in the 66th minute.

Late Equalizer and Penalty Shootout Victory

Just when América seemed set for victory, Tomas Avilés rose to head in an equalizer two minutes into stoppage time, capitalizing on a perfectly delivered inswinging corner from Julian Gressel.

With the match tied at 2-2, the game proceeded to a penalty shootout, where Inter Miami secured a 3-2 win in sudden death, marking a successful start to their pre-season campaign.
