Kiddwaya calls on Nigerian billionaires to make joint bid for TikTok

Former Big Brother Naija star Kiddwaya has urged Nigerian billionaires to come together and make a collective effort to acquire TikTok, especially as the app faces the threat of being banned in the United States.

He took to his social media to say, “What about all the billionaires in Nigeria? Can we unite and buy TikTok, or is it only a privilege for white people?”

As reported, in April 2024, President Joe Biden signed legislation requiring TikTok’s Chinese owner, ByteDance, to either sell the app or shut it down by January 19. In response, TikTok filed an appeal in December 2024 with the US Supreme Court, shortly after CEO Shou Zi Chew met with President-elect Donald Trump. Trump expressed his “soft spot” for TikTok and stated that his administration would assess the app’s future and the possibility of a ban.

ByteDance is currently awaiting the Supreme Court’s decision on the matter.
