**Former Miss Nigeria and Delta State First Lady, Edna Ibru, Passes Away**
The Ibru family has announced the passing of Mrs. Edna Ibru (née Park), a former Miss Nigeria and ex-First Lady of Delta State. Mrs. Ibru, wife of Olorogun Felix Ibru, who served as the first civilian Governor of Delta State from 1991 to 1992, passed away in her 80s after a brief illness. She died on Wednesday in a London hospital.
Edna Ibru made history as Miss Nigeria in 1964 and was the first Nigerian and African woman to represent Nigeria at the Miss Universe pageant. She leaves behind two children from her marriage to Olorogun Felix Ibru.
Dr. Paul Ibru, her son, confirmed her passing in a statement released by the family to journalists in Warri on Saturday.
“Our amazing mother passed into glory on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, after a brief illness,” the statement read.
“Until her death, she was full of life, and we never expected her to leave us so soon. However, we cannot question the will of God in her precious life. She was a lover of people, a mediator, a mother to many, outrageously humorous, deeply caring, down to earth, and always full of stories. We will miss her very dearly.”
Paul Ibru also mentioned that the family would announce the arrangements for her burial in due course.
Mrs. Edna Ibru's legacy as a trailblazer in beauty and as a compassionate community leader will be remembered by many.
