Police bursts and Dismantle Illegal Weapons Factory, Arrest Cultist and Murder Suspects


The Nigeria Police Force has made significant strides in its nationwide crime-fighting efforts, recently uncovering an illegal arms manufacturing facility in Benue State, arresting a notorious cultist in Delta State, and apprehending two murder suspects in Kebbi State.


Illegal Weapons Factory Discovered in Benue


In a statement issued on Friday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, detailed the operations. According to the statement, on January 11, 2025, police operatives in Benue State raided an illegal weapons production site in the Tse Akamabe area of Kwande Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of two suspects: Friday Aduduakambe and Iorwashima Iornyume, also known as “AK.”


During a thorough search of the facility, officers recovered various arms and manufacturing equipment, including:

Nine locally-made pistols

One unfinished locally fabricated AK-47 rifle

Two gas cylinders

Four vise machines

One filing machine

Several other tools used in weapon production


Cultist Arrested in Delta State


In another operation, police officers in Delta State acted on credible intelligence to raid the residence of Prosper Akeni, an alleged hitman for the Eiye confraternity. The raid, carried out in the DSC area, resulted in Akeni’s arrest and the seizure of a stockpile of firearms. Items recovered included:

One English revolver pistol

One Beretta pistol

Two locally-made double-barrel guns

Two locally-made single-barrel guns

One locally-made revolver pistol

One locally-made single-barrel pistol

25 rounds of ammunition


“The suspect admitted that the firearms belonged to his cult group and that he was responsible for safeguarding them as the group’s leader,” the statement revealed.


Murder Suspects Nabbed in Kebbi


Additionally, the police in Kebbi State apprehended two individuals in connection with separate murder cases. On December 31, 2024, officers arrested Yunusa Haruna for allegedly stabbing his elder brother, Isiyaku Haruna, to death in Shanga Local Government Area. In a separate incident on January 8, 2025, Abubakar Ummar was taken into custody in Zuru Village for fatally stabbing Mohammed Bala during an argument.


The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crime across the country and ensuring that perpetrators of violence and illegal activities are brought to justice.
