Nigerians Mourn the Tragic Death of Woman Allegedly Beheaded by Gospel Singer

Nigerians have taken to social media to express their grief and outrage following the horrific death of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, who was allegedly beheaded by a man said to be her boyfriend in Nasarawa State.

The suspect, identified as gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi, was reportedly caught on Sunday near a church carrying a bag containing Ms. Adaidu’s severed head. Concerned bystanders who found his behavior suspicious confronted him, leading to his arrest by police.

Authorities later discovered additional dismembered remains of the victim at the suspect’s residence.

Speaking to reporters, Nasarawa police spokesman Ramhan Nansel confirmed:

"The suspect was found with a fresh human head. When officers arrived at the scene, they intervened to save him from being lynched by an angry crowd."

Ms. Adaidu was serving as a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abuja at the time of her death.

Family and Friends Demand Accountability

The victim’s family has called on the authorities to ensure a full investigation and prosecution of those responsible for the crime.

A family friend, Abby Simon, shared that the tragedy was particularly devastating for Ms. Adaidu’s mother, who had already lost her husband just seven months earlier. The mother reportedly fainted from the shock of losing her daughter in such a brutal manner.

Ms. Simon also dismissed claims that the victim was romantically involved with the suspect:

"No one deserves to die this way. Even if she were his girlfriend, this is inexcusable."

Patience Adaidu, the deceased’s sister, criticized the handling of the case by law enforcement and appealed for public support:

"The police have not provided us with any updates or answered our questions. We need justice and assistance from Nigerians."

Public Outrage on Social Media

The crime has sparked an outpouring of condolences and anger online, with Nigerians condemning the act and offering words of support to the victim’s family.

One user, Avni James, wrote:

"Rest in peace, Salome Adaidu. May your killer never find peace, even in death."

Another, Amara Josephine, expressed her sorrow:

"The thought of what happened to that young woman breaks my heart. My prayers are with her family."

As investigations continue, Nigerians are united in demanding justice for Ms. Adaidu and closure for her grieving family.
