Nasarawa court remands gospel singer caught with corps member’s severed head

Court Orders Remand of Gospel Singer Caught with Corps Member’s Severed Head

A Nasarawa State High Court has ordered the remand of self-proclaimed gospel singer, Timilehin Ajayi, who was found in possession of the severed head of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Salome Adaidu.

The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the court’s decision in a brief statement shared on its official X handle on Friday.

According to the statement, Ajayi was presented in court ahead of his formal arraignment.

“Timilehin Ajayi was charged to court today and remanded in prison custody pending his formal arraignment,” the statement read.

Earlier reports revealed that Ajayi was apprehended by church members after allegedly murdering and mutilating Adaidu, reportedly for ritual purposes.

A church official, Caleb Umaru, who serves as the Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, explained that one of the congregants noticed Ajayi behaving suspiciously near a river.

The concerned church member raised an alarm after witnessing Ajayi dispose of a bag into the river. Upon retrieval, the bag was discovered to contain Adaidu’s severed head.

Ajayi later confessed to the crime but showed no remorse. He alleged that his victim, whom he claimed was his girlfriend, had been unfaithful to him, which led him to commit the act.

Family Denies Relationship Claims

Meanwhile, Adaidu’s family refuted claims that she was romantically involved with the suspect. They insisted that she was never in a relationship with Ajayi and alleged that she had been kidnapped rather than willingly visiting him before her murder.
