Father and Daughter Beheaded Over Land Dispute in Delta State
A tragic incident unfolded in Amai, a community in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, where a 70-year-old man, Mr. Aghanti, and his 50-year-old daughter, Mrs. Atagoshi, were gruesomely murdered and beheaded over a land dispute.
Reports indicate that the victims were lured into a bush by the suspect under the guise of resolving the conflict over the land. Their decapitated bodies were later discovered.
Sources revealed that the deceased woman, a secondary school teacher, had purchased a plot of land in the community, which was later contested by certain individuals.
Police Confirm Incident
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the tragic event. According to him, the suspect invited the woman and her father to discuss the land issue, leading them into the bush where they were brutally killed and beheaded.
“The suspect called the woman, claiming he wanted to settle the land matter. Once in the bush, he attacked them, took their lives, and severed their heads,” Edafe stated.
On the same day, a man identified as Emeke was caught by local vigilantes carrying two human heads. Enraged residents lynched him and set him ablaze. Upon closer examination, the severed heads were confirmed to be those of the slain father and daughter.
Edafe further disclosed that the prime suspect is currently at large, and law enforcement authorities are making concerted efforts to track him down and bring him to justice.
