In a statement released on Wednesday by his media aide, Bayo Onanuga, the President extended his condolences to the affected families, the Zamfara State Government, and the owners of the school. He also prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the fire.

According to Abdulrasaq Bello Kaura, a resident of the area, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing parts of the Islamiya school and trapping several children inside.
