Ogun Governor Rewards Best Graduating Students with N7.5 Million at Polytechnic Convocation


 Dapo Abiodun Recognizes Academic Excellence in Health and Allied Sciences


Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has awarded a cash prize of N2.5 million each to the three best graduating students of Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, Ilese-Ijebu, in recognition of their academic excellence.


The announcement was made at the 3rd combined convocation ceremony of the institution on Thursday, where Governor Abiodun, represented by his Special Adviser on Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, praised the students for their hard work and dedication.


Meet the Award Winners


🏆 Famuyewa Aminat (Dental Technology) – CGPA: 3.75 (2021/2022 session)

🏆 Rasak Temilola (Health Information Management) – CGPA: 3.68 (2022/2023 session)

🏆 Kanyinsola Salami (Environmental Health Technology) – CGPA: 3.94 (2023/2024 session & overall best student)


Governor Abiodun’s Commitment to Education


Speaking at the event, Governor Abiodun emphasized his administration’s commitment to academic excellence and youth empowerment through investments in the education sector.


“Education is the bedrock of any society, and we will continue to ensure that our students have access to quality education. The rewarding of these outstanding students today is a reflection of our commitment to nurturing the leaders of tomorrow,” he stated.


He also encouraged the graduating students to apply their knowledge to transform the health sector, ensuring better healthcare services for Nigerians.


Institution’s Growth and Achievements


The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Rasaki Akinbo, highlighted the tremendous growth and achievements of the institution since its upgrade to polytechnic status in 2023.


Key milestones include:

Accreditation of 11 new programs and re-accreditation of five existing courses

Completion of key infrastructure projects – Medical Laboratory Technician and Health Information Management buildings

Renovation of student hostels

Ongoing ICT center upgrade


Akinbo expressed gratitude to Governor Abiodun for his continued support, which has helped the institution become a leading force in health and allied sciences education in Nigeria.


Appeal for Further Government Support


The Chairman of the Governing Council, Kunle Kakejaiye, called for additional government support, including:

📌 Tarring of internal roads within the institution

📌 Increased funding for infrastructural development


He emphasized that these improvements would enhance the learning environment for students and staff.
